The Resident Judge of the Luwero High Court Circuit, Justice Godfrey Himbaza, presided over the Wobulenzi Magistrate’s Court Open Day, an event designed to strengthen public engagement and promote transparency within the Judiciary.
Representing the Principal Judge, Justice Himbaza was welcomed by James Ereemye Jumire Mawanda, the Judiciary’s Public Relations Officer; Adikini Esther, Chief Magistrate of Luwero Chief Magistrate’s Court; Kyomuhangi Happy Ann, Senior Magistrate Grade I at Wobulenzi; and other magistrates, Judicial Service Commission representatives, and members of the legal fraternity.
The ceremony began with an inspection of a Guard of Honour mounted by the Uganda Police Force, followed by the planting of a commemorative tree and a tour of the court premises, including stakeholder exhibition stalls.
In his address, Justice Himbaza emphasised the Judiciary’s commitment to enhancing accountability and access to justice, praising outreach initiatives for bridging the gap between the courts and the communities they serve.
Earlier, King Tindyebwa Adyeri, Magistrate Grade I at Luwero Chief Magistrate’s Court, led a public sensitisation session, explaining court processes and reforms aimed at making justice delivery more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly.
The Open Day attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including Bamunanika County MP Robert Ssekitoleko, Luwero District Chairperson Erasto Kibirango, Nyambaju Immaculate, Regional Director of Public Prosecutions, religious leaders, and members of the public.
