The National Unity Platform (NUP) Vice President for Buganda Region, Hon. Mohammad Muwanga Kivumbi, has urged party supporters to remain resilient despite the ongoing arrests of some of their colleagues accompanying the party’s presidential flag bearer.
Speaking at Kamwokya Market during the launch of NUP’s campaigns for Kampala Central parliamentary and local government flag bearers, Kivumbi encouraged supporters to stay united and focused.
“We should not be shaken by the arrests of our colleagues,” Kivumbi said. “They cannot arrest all of us. Let us stay firm and focused on the mission of change.”
The launch followed a door-to-door campaign led by David Lewis Rubongoya, NUP’s flag bearer for Kampala Central Member of Parliament, who appealed to residents to entrust him with their votes.
“I have lived among you and I understand your challenges,” Rubongoya told supporters. “Together, we can build a better Kampala that works for everyone.”
NUP’s Lord Mayoral candidate Ronald Balimwezo also pledged to address Kampala’s long-standing challenges if elected.
“There will be no more floods, no more deaths caused by mismanaged garbage,” Balimwezo said. “We shall make Kampala a clean and livable city.”
Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi praised Rubongoya’s leadership and dedication, describing him as a capable representative for Kampala Central.
“Rubongoya has served diligently and proved his commitment to the people,” Ssenyonyi noted. “He has the experience and integrity to represent Kampala Central effectively.”
Following the Kamwokya launch, NUP leaders announced plans to proceed to Nakawa East tomorrow to officially kick off campaigns for the party’s parliamentary and local government candidates in that constituency.
