Mukono North Showdown: Kibuule Promises Real Development, Blasts Rivals

Former State Minister for Water and Youth Affairs Ronald Kibuule has vowed to revive development projects and restore essential services in Mukono North as he campaigns to reclaim the parliamentary seat.

Addressing hundreds of supporters at Lutengo Playground in Nama Sub-county, Kibuule outlined a development-focused agenda centered on rural electrification, clean water access, and improved health infrastructure.

He pledged to ensure every household has access to clean water and electricity and promised to lobby for the upgrade of Kyampisi Health Centre III to Health Centre IV, alongside the construction of the Kyabakadde–Busiika road, which he said would “open Mukono North to trade and jobs.”

In a speech laced with sharp political criticism, Kibuule accused incumbent MP Abdallah Kiwanuka (NUP) and Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze of neglecting their constituencies and turning development into politics.

He claimed Kiwanuka had failed to deliver tangible results and “misled residents” on the Parish Development Model. He further alleged that Kiwanuka’s personal gains had outpaced his service to the constituency.

Kibuule also took aim at Nambooze, accusing her of hypocrisy for “benefiting from government funds” while criticising the administration. He alleged that she received Shs 3 billion for medical treatment abroad, saying such funds “could have built a modern market for the people of Mukono Municipality.”

In response, MP Kiwanuka dismissed Kibuule’s remarks as “a desperate attempt to stay relevant,” arguing that Kibuule failed to deliver during his tenure in government.

Kibuule, however, insisted his focus was on service delivery, not politics. He pledged to equip Katoogo Health Centre IV with a resident doctor and oxygen supply, and to continue supporting local youth initiatives.

He also criticised Kiwanuka for failing to operationalise the ambulance he donated, claiming that patients still called him for fuel support.

“We are not just talking politics — we are bringing jobs, water, and progress,” he said, urging ruling party supporters to unite for development.

Kibuule’s return to elective politics has energised the Mukono North race, setting the stage for a heated contest ahead of the 2026 general elections.
