The Archbishop of Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, will embark on a pastoral visit to Nakivale Refugee Settlement in Isingiro District, Ankole Diocese, on Thursday, 13th November 2025.
The visit aims to launch the Church of Uganda's Children's Focus Month 2025, themed "Doing Good for Children," under the provincial theme "Imitating God's goodness by doing good" (Galatians 6:9-10).
During the visit, the Archbishop will deliver essential supplies, including food, baby blankets, clothes, and school materials, to support over 1,000 children aged 0-17 years in the settlement.
The Church of Uganda has been responding to the needs of refugees in Nakivale since July 2024, providing food, psychosocial support, and counseling to over 3,000 individuals.
"Every November, Church of Uganda dedicates the month to celebrating and advocating for children's wellbeing," said a statement from the Church.
"This year's activities focus on showing acts of love, giving hope, and amplifying the voices of children, especially those in vulnerable communities."
The Children's Ministry of Church of Uganda plays a central role in mobilising and coordinating activities for the Children's Focus Month, equipping Sunday School teachers, parents, and community leaders to nurture children in Christian values and life skills.
Nakivale Refugee Settlement is home to approximately 186,000 refugees, with 97,088 children aged 0-11 years facing critical challenges, including food shortages, trauma, and limited access to education and basic services.
