The Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga, has urged Baganda living in Arab countries to remain humble, united, and avoid spreading misinformation, calling on Muslims to support the Kabaka’s vision and participate in the Kingdom’s development programs.

His remarks came during a special duwa (Islamic prayer) held at Nsubuga’s home in Muyenga, Mutuba III, Makindye County, in memory of the late Hajjat Zarinah Nsubuga, the envoy’s wife.

Mayiga commended Arab-based Baganda for their dedication to their heritage but cautioned against division and the spread of unverified information.

“Those living in the Arab world should refrain from spreading unverified information and focus on working together to promote unity and the activities of the Kingdom,” he said.

He praised Hajji Abbas for his calm and devoted service to the Kabaka and lauded the late Hajjat Zarinah for supporting her husband in fulfilling his responsibilities.

“We thank God for the life of Hajjat Zarinah and pray that He grants her eternal mercy,” Mayiga added.

Addressing the bereaved family, Mayiga encouraged the children to remain united and strong, emphasizing that unity begins at home and radiates outward.

“Even in times of challenge such as losing a family pillar, unity must prevail,” he said.

Minister for Kingdom Affairs Joseph Kawuki highlighted Nsubuga’s unwavering commitment to Buganda Kingdom matters, noting that he continued preparations for the Buganda convention in the Arab region even after his wife’s passing.

He urged all Kabaka’s subjects to rely on accurate information and avoid spreading falsehoods.

The Deputy Supreme Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Ibrahima Ntanda, praised Nsubuga’s exemplary conduct, encouraging him to remain strong and continue raising his children with courage.

Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs Minister Minsa Kabanda also lauded him for his compassion, inclusivity, and ability to unite people peacefully.

Hajj Nsubuga expressed deep gratitude to the Katikkiro and dignitaries who supported him during this difficult period.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to the Kabaka and called on Muslims to engage with the Kingdom’s leadership and participate in its development programs.

“Let us avoid speaking ill of the Kingdom or spreading falsehoods. We must support the Kabaka’s vision with truth and loyalty,” he said, also cautioning youth against social media misconduct.

Several scholars addressed attendees, emphasizing unity, discipline, and family values.

Abdul Haphizu Muusa Walusimbi from the Islamic University in Mbale refuted claims that Islam sidelines women, urging husbands to empower their wives in raising children.

Sheikh Yusuf Mutimba encouraged children to pray continually for their deceased parents.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Muhammad Mubiru, Nsubuga’s brother, highlighted the family’s historical role in strengthening the relationship between Islam and the Buganda Kingdom, expressing pride in the Kabaka’s trust in their leadership.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister for Agriculture and Animal Resources Amiisi Kakomo, Kabaka’s Representative in Ankole Mutaasa Kafeero, Ivan Mukasa, Rashid Lukwago, and other notable figures from both the Kingdom and the Muslim community.
