The people of West Nile have received news of Lino Anguzu’s appointment as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) with excitement and hope.

Anguzu, who grew up in the current Arua district, is being praised for his humility and hard work.

Many view the appointment as timely, noting that the region is in need of role models for the next generation.

Arua district LC5 Chairperson Alfred Okuonzi described the appointment as a reflection of the trust President Yoweri Museveni places in the people of West Nile.

"The people are all excited for this appointment, and our prayer is that God should guide his leadership in prosecution because he is a person who has humanity at heart," he said.

Okuonzi added that Anguzu’s rise could open doors for more appointments from the region and help bring government closer to the people of West Nile.

Maracha district LC5 Chairperson Stephen Obitre noted that residents were pleasantly surprised by the news.

"He has risen to the top because of his humility. He comes from a very humble family, and both his parents were educationists," Obitre said.

Moses Odims, executive director of the West Nile Development Association (WENDA), highlighted the governance implications of the appointment.

"It shows confidence from the fountain of honor that West Nile has leaders of character and appealing personality who can inspire others," he said.

"It also demonstrates his commitment to fostering more leaders from the region in cabinet, ministries, commissions, and diplomatic roles."

Okuonzi also urged residents to support President Museveni in the 2026 elections as a sign of appreciation for Anguzu’s appointment.

Lino Anguzu, who had been serving under Justice Jane Frances Abodo, was appointed DPP on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, following his former boss’s promotion to Principal Judge.
