ITMS Launches School Road Safety Campaign

The first ‘Safe Kids, Safe Future’ education session was launched by ITMS in partnership with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and the Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety at Ntinda Primary School.

The ‘Safe Kids, Safe Future’ campaign focuses on educating pupils on road use practices and attracting attention to the problem of road safety.

The campaign includes a row of ongoing initiatives, like education sessions at the public events, and safety facilities charity distribution.

Education sessions at public events and schools,Distribution of reflective vests, educational bookmarks, and kids' helmets,Collaboration with KCCA and Traffic Police to educate pupils on safe road use.

At Ntinda sensitisation the reflective vests are distributed to pupils in upper classes particularly to those who walk to school early in the morning or return home late in the evening to enhance their visibility and secure.

“Every day, Uganda loses two school-going children due to reckless driving. We are happy that ITMS cares about kids’ safety both via CSR activities like today and by providing smart transport solutions. Together, we can make Ugandan roads safer,” Michael Kananura, the Traffic Directorate’s Spokesperson.

According to official statistics, Uganda loses over 5,000 people annually to road crashes including kids who are the most vulnerable! Road safety problem calls for urgent measures and smart solutions like ITMS dramatically improve the road safety environment.

“Uganda's roads shouldn't be a death trap for our children; due to speeding and careless driving, children are at the most risk. KCCA is committed to making the city's roads safer for everyone, especially the vulnerable.

We are grateful for the collaborative effort of the Uganda Police Traffic & Road Safety Directorate and stakeholders like ITMS who supplement the city's work,” Ms. Jemima Nalumansi, Bloomberg Road Safety Project Coordinator, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
