As the country prepares for the start of parliamentary campaigns on November 10, 2025, police have called on all aspirant Members of Parliament to work closely with security agencies to ensure peaceful and orderly campaign activities.
Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma says coordination between political aspirants and security forces is essential in preventing violence, easing tension, and maintaining public order during the campaign period.
Kituuma emphasized that police are ready to provide security support in all areas where campaigns will be conducted, urging candidates to share their schedules in advance with local security teams.
“We advise all aspirants to cooperate with police in their respective areas. This will help us plan and ensure everyone campaigns peacefully without disruptions,” Kituuma said.
He further warned that police will not hesitate to act against anyone found violating electoral laws or engaging in acts that could incite violence.
The Electoral Commission earlier confirmed November 10, 2025, as the official start date for parliamentary campaigns ahead of the 2026 general elections. In previous election cycles, clashes between rival supporters and poor coordination with security have led to isolated cases of violence something police say they are determined to prevent.
