The Court of Appeal in Kampala has today commenced a three-day special session dedicated to hearing civil appeals and related applications.
The session, running until Wednesday, October 8, 2025, is set to handle 26 civil appeals alongside three applications arising from some of these cases.
The panel presiding over the session is composed entirely of female justices: Lady Justice Eva Luswata, Lady Justice Florence Nakachwa, and Lady Justice Stella Alibateese.
According to the Court’s Registrar, Allen Rukundo Owembabazion, the majority of appeals to be heard during this special sitting relate to land and property disputes, which account for 12 cases.
“We also have eight appeals concerning breach of contract matters. The remaining cases involve defamation, recovery of money, and other civil disputes,” Rukundo said.
The Court of Appeal is expected to conclude the session on Wednesday, after which judgments on some appeals may be delivered, depending on the complexity of the cases.
