Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has reaffirmed that the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) will not front a presidential candidate, stressing that the party’s priority is fostering opposition unity ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Speaking on NBS Frontline on Thursday, Ssemujju, who is also the PFF spokesperson, said unity remains central to their strategy and urged the opposition to set aside personal ambitions in pursuit of broader democratic change.

“Part of the reason we signed a cooperation agreement with the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) was because we believe in a strong united front," Ssemujju said.

"The reason PFF won’t field a candidate is because we believe in fielding one candidate. The conditions that we face will make us work together whether we like it or not.

“I am a Shadow Minister for Finance in the National Unity Platform government in Parliament. We work together. That’s a fact.”

His remarks follow PFF’s announcement at the party’s Katonga secretariat that it would not front a presidential candidate in the upcoming elections, a move officials say is aimed at consolidating opposition efforts into “a single, stronger freedom-seeking force.”

On July 2, 2025, PFF formalized a cooperation agreement with ANT and has since engaged with the National Unity Platform (NUP), signaling a broader effort to rally key opposition groups under one banner.
