The Uganda Homes Expo marked its 15th anniversary over the weekend, drawing leaders, innovators, and stakeholders in real estate to explore solutions for the country’s housing challenges.
Held under the theme “Access to Quality Living and a Pathway to a Green Future,” the Expo showcased emerging trends, technologies, and investment opportunities driving the property sector.
Expo Chairman Dr. Edwin Musiime commended participants for their contribution to what he called “a shared vision of advancing housing solutions across Africa.” He also launched his debut book, Real Estate: Rethinking Africa’s Housing Future, which underscores the central role of housing in shaping society.
“Above all, housing is the foundation of dignity. It is where families dream, raise children, and build lives with meaning. Without decent housing, societies cannot flourish,” Musiime wrote.
The government’s commitment was underscored by Lands, Housing and Urban Development Minister Judith Nabakooba, who represented President Museveni at the event. D
elivering his speech, Nabakooba highlighted the persistent housing deficit despite steady sector growth.
“Our vision is to build communities where every Ugandan can live with dignity, security, and opportunity,” she said.
She further revealed that the ministry is fast-tracking supportive frameworks, including the National Housing Policy, the National Urban Policy, and the Condominium Property Act to promote modern housing development.
The President urged international exhibitors to invest in Uganda, citing a favorable business climate and growing demand for affordable housing.
Also marking its 60th anniversary at the Expo, National Housing and Construction Company (NHCC) reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality housing solutions.
CEO Kenneth Kaijuka praised the Expo’s organizers and said NHCC will continue to prioritize affordable homes for Ugandans.
With record attendance and robust industry participation, organizers say the 2025 Expo has set the stage for stronger collaboration and innovation in the housing and real estate sector.
