The Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has embarked on a two-day training for parish chiefs and key stakeholders in Hoima District ahead of data collection for the State of Parish Economy and Assets Report (SPEAR).
According to District Production Officer Dr. Charles Kajura, the training concludes today, Friday, and will be followed by a seven-day data collection exercise.
The SPEAR report will capture information on economic activities at parish level, availability of social service facilities such as schools, health centers, roads, and water sources, as well as infrastructure supporting economic growth like banks, mobile money services, internet access, and other financial institutions. It will also highlight challenges hindering local economic development.
Data collected will be consolidated from sub-counties to district level before being submitted to UBOS and the National Planning Authority (NPA) to inform work plans and the national budget for the 2026/2027 financial year.
Closing the first day of training, PAS Evelyne K. Businge, who represented the Chief Administrative Officer, urged participants to collect credible and reliable data that truly reflects community needs.
UBOS confirmed that data will be collected digitally using a dedicated application developed for the exercise.
