3rd Annual Agriculture Awards Celebrate Excellence in Uganda’s Agri-Sector

The Ugandan agricultural community came together on Friday, July 25, 2025, to honor the top performers in the sector at the 3rd Annual Agriculture Awards. Held at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, the prestigious event celebrated individuals and organizations driving innovation, sustainability, and growth in Uganda’s agriculture.

The awards, organized to recognize those making significant contributions to national food security and economic development, saw a diverse range of winners, from corporate giants to grassroots organizations and individual farmers.

NEC Agro was a standout winner, taking home the coveted Best National Agricultural Enterprise award for its impactful work in modernizing and scaling agricultural practices. In the financial sector, Pride Bank was recognized with the Agri-Finance Award for its innovative credit services tailored to farmers and agricultural businesses, helping to unlock capital and boost productivity.

One of the night's most celebrated winners was Sandra Nabasirye, widely known as "Slay Farmer," who was honored with the National Agro Tourism Award. Her efforts to combine farming with tourism have created a new, engaging model for agribusiness and inspired many young people to join the sector.

The awards also highlighted key players in the policy and advocacy space. The Uganda Sustainable Agricultural Support Organisation (USASO) received the top award for its policy advocacy, with the Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) named the First Runner-Up. This recognition underscores the crucial role of research and policy in shaping a sustainable agricultural future for Uganda.

Other notable winners included:

• Centre for Food and Adequate Living Rights (CEFROHT) for the Food Systems Award

• Omia Agribusiness for the National Agri-Business Award

• PELUM Uganda for the National Farmer Organisation Award

• Kilimo Trust for the Agriculture NGO Award

• Bukoola Chemicals for the Best Visionary Agricultural Inputs Company

The ceremony served as a powerful reminder of the resilience and ingenuity within Uganda's agricultural sector, a vital pillar of the nation's economy. Organizers praised the winners for their tireless efforts in ensuring a prosperous and food-secure Uganda.
