The ruling NRM party secretary general, Richard Todwong has announced dates for this year’s delegates conference ahead of the 2026 general elections.
According to Todwong, the national delegates conference will be held between August 27 and 28 at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala.
However, this will be preceded by the meeting of the Central Executive Committee between August 20 and 22, the national executive council on 23 and the special interest groups national elective conference on August, 25.
Eligibility
Todwong said delegates to the national delegates conference include the party national chairperson, first national vice chairperson, second national vice chairperson, the six regional vice chairperson representing the North, East, West, Central, Kampala and Karamoja, Members of the National Executive Council, NRM Members of Parliament, NRM Members of EALA, NRM MP flag bearers, District (LCV /City Mayors) chairpersons and NRM District (LCV /City Mayors) Chairperson flag bearers.
Others are executive committees of the NRM branches in the diaspora, members NRM historical leaders forum, National Executive Committees of Special Organs including Women’s League, Youth League, Workers League, Elders League, PWDs League, Entrepreneurs League, and NRM/A Veterans League, Chairpersons of NRM District Conferences (NRM District / City Chairpersons), members of NRM Municipal/ City Division executive committees, sitting NRM Municipal / City Division Mayors, sitting Members of the NRM on Municipal / City Division Councils, promoters of the NRM organization, members of NRM District/ City executive committees, members of the District/ City executive committees of all special organs, sitting NRM members on District / City Councils, chairpersons of Sub County/ Municipal Division / Town Council conferences and not more than 20 individuals invited by the party national chairman as observers.
At the national delegates conference, the ruling NRM party will elect its CEC members but also endorse President Museveni as its party flag bearer for president in the coming 2026 general elections but also national chairman.
