The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has released the shortlist of successful applicants for the 2025 general recruitment exercise, with physical assessments set to begin on August 5.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs announced that the list is available on the official UPDF website and at all district and municipal headquarters.
The physical recruitment will take place from August 5 to August 15, 2025, at designated recruitment centers across the country.
According to Maj. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, Director of Defence Public Information, shortlisted applicants must report with three recent passport-size photographs, original academic documents, and an application letter signed by their Local Council I (LC1) chairperson, District Internal Security Officer (DISO), and Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO).
“Applicants who did not indicate their district of residence on the application forms should report to the district listed on their national ID,” said Maj. Gen. Kulayigye.
He warned that any candidates found with forged documents will be prosecuted, and reminded the public that the recruitment exercise is entirely free.
“No money is required at any stage of the process,” the statement emphasized, cautioning applicants to be wary of conmen and impersonators.
Only candidates whose names appear on the official shortlist are expected to report to the recruitment venues.
Successful applicants will be required to report to Kaweweta Basic Military Training School in Ngoma, Nakaseke District, within three days of completing the recruitment.
The Ministry reiterated the UPDF’s commitment to a transparent, merit-based recruitment process and extended its best wishes to all shortlisted candidates.
