City pastor defiles, impregnates church choir member

Police in Kampala have arrested a pastor for defiling one of his female followers who also doubled as a member of the church choir.

Pastor Ronald Regan Katende, 31, of Siloam Pool Ministries in Wakasanke Lugala in Rubaga division was arrested detained by Old Kampala Police station.

The seventeen-year-old victim according to witnesses first arrived at Siloam Pool Ministries with a number of problems including depression hoping for assistance from the pastor.

The arrest of Pastor Ronald Regan Katende brings to four, the number of pastors arrested in Kampala in connection to child defilement this year.

“With her heart touching testimony, the pastor brought the child from her family 6 months ago with promises of supporting her education and welfare,” said one of the church members who preferred anonymity.

“He ushered her into a home where he keeps other children to whom he promises to get sponsors to reduce on their burdens.”

Subsequently, the 17-year-old girl who had been introduced to the church choir was later seduced and exploited sexually by the pastor before making her pregnant.

It is alleged that on realising that his church follower was now pregnant, forced her out of the home prompting her to return to her parents. It is said that on reaching home, the girl’s parents quizzed her about the pregnancy before she narrated what had befallen her and they reported the matter to Old Kampala police station that arrested the pastor.

Pastor Katende is set to face charges related to defilement and trafficking for sexual exploitations. This website has separately learnt that four other girls have since the arrest turned up to report cases of defilement by the pastor.
