The Ministry of Internal Affairs has confirmed a presidential directive halting the processing of dual citizenship applications for individuals of certain national origins, including Banyarwanda and Sudanese.

Speaking to the media, Ministry spokesperson Simon Peter Mundeyi revealed that the instruction was issued by President Yoweri Museveni, urging the Ministry to immediately stop processing such applications until further notice.

“We have received a directive from the President to stop handling dual citizenship for specific groups, including Banyarwanda and Sudanese,” said Mundeyi.

The directive is expected to affect hundreds of applicants, many of whom had already submitted the necessary documents and were awaiting feedback.
