The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has promoted three senior UPDF officers to higher ranks.
The Saturday night promotions saw Major General Francis Okello, the outgoing commandant of the National Defence College (NDC) promoted to Lieutenant General.
General Okello is set to retire from active service of the UPDF in July 2025.
By promoting him, a few weeks to retirement, Gen Okello is being saluted for a good job done, especially being the pioneer commandant of the UPDF National Defence College, having led it from nothing to something now.
Also, among those promoted was Colonel Geoffrey Karugaba, Uganda’s Defence Attaché to the United Kingdom, who has now been elevated to the rank of Brigadier General.
Former UPDF spokesperson Col Paddy Ankunda has also been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.
General Ankunda currently serves as the Assistant Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security in Charge of International Affairs.
