Her speech, filled with practical wisdom and delivered with conviction, resonated deeply with the students, who listened attentively as she emphasized the power of values in a rapidly changing world.

“Your values and morals are your compass—let them guide your decisions in school and beyond,” she told the captivated audience.

Col Nakalema warned against the misuse of social media, describing it as a double-edged sword.

“Social media can be a tool for learning or a trap for vice—choose wisely,” she said, prompting self-reflection among students.

Widely respected for her leadership, discipline, and public service, Nakalema’s visit to the school underscored her continued commitment to nurturing integrity and national pride among young Ugandans.

Kitebi Secondary School’s Headteacher, Hajji Muhammed Kamulegeya, used the occasion to appeal for urgent government support to address key infrastructural and staffing challenges.

He emphasized the role of parents and teachers in guiding learners and called for stronger home-school partnerships.

“Education thrives when parents, teachers, and students work together,” he noted.

Kamulegeya also highlighted a list of unmet government pledges, including the need for a school bus, a multi-storey classroom block to manage swelling enrollment, recruitment of private teachers onto the government payroll, and provision of furniture for a newly completed classroom wing.

“These are not just needs; they are investments in our children’s future,” he said.

The event served as a timely reminder of the need for moral grounding in education and the critical role of community and government in nurturing Uganda’s next generation.
