US President Donald Trump launched a fiery tirade on social media Tuesday against Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, dismissing her call for his impeachment following his recent authorization of airstrikes on Iranian targets.
Trump took to his platform Truth Social to sharply criticize Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, calling her “one of the dumbest people in Congress” and accusing her and other Democrats of being unable to accept his past administration’s “victories.”
His remarks came after AOC publicly condemned his decision to order military strikes against Iran’s nuclear facilities without Congressional approval, calling the action a “disastrous decision” and a “grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers.”
In a post that blended insults with defiance, Trump mocked impeachment efforts, referencing the two prior proceedings against him.
“Go ahead and try Impeaching me, again, MAKE MY DAY!” he wrote.
He also attacked other progressive lawmakers, including Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Jasmine Crockett, using derogatory language.
AOC’s call for impeachment, voiced on June 21 via X (formerly Twitter), warned that Trump’s unilateral military action risked dragging the United States into “a war that may ensnare us for generations.”
She insisted such moves were “absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment” given the constitutional requirement that only Congress can declare war.
Her stance has ignited debate within the Democratic Party. Some progressives have rallied behind AOC’s push for accountability, while others caution that impeachment efforts could be politically damaging and unlikely to succeed.
Trump’s response also included boasts about having “aced” a cognitive test at Walter Reed Medical Center, suggesting that AOC should be subjected to similar testing.
He took aim at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as well, disparaging him as “Cryin’ Chuck” and accusing Democrats of suffering historically low poll numbers.
The confrontation comes as Trump seeks to reassure American voters that, unlike his predecessors, he will avoid entangling the US in new foreign wars.
During his campaign appearances, he has promised to bring peace rather than conflict to the volatile Middle East — a promise many see as strained given his recent military actions against Iran.
The simmering dispute underscores the deepening polarization in Washington and the challenges Trump faces within both his party and the opposition as the nation navigates fraught international tensions and the countdown to the next presidential vote.
