The Rwenzori Anti-Corruption Coalition (RAC) has praised Kamwenge District Local Government for outstanding performance in service delivery and for demonstrating transparency in the management of public resources.
The recognition was made on Monday during a People’s Parliament forum held at the Kamwenge District Headquarters.
The platform allowed RAC to give positive feedback and make governance recommendations on issues previously raised by citizens.
RAC Board Chairperson Gerald Twebaze said Kamwenge had made significant progress in meeting public expectations.
“Kamwenge District is scoring well in terms of service delivery. The efforts being made here align with both the law and the expectations of the citizens,” Twebaze said.
“This kind of progress deserves to be recognized and encouraged.”
At the forum, RAC and district leaders agreed to formalize their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in the fight against corruption and enhancing accountability.
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Harriet Katusiime welcomed the move, reaffirming the district’s commitment to working closely with RAC.
“We welcome the support of RAC and are committed to working hand in hand with them to ensure that the people of Kamwenge continue to benefit from quality services,” Katusiime said.
After the meeting, a joint monitoring exercise was conducted at Kamwenge Railway Primary School, where the team assessed the construction of a new classroom block.
Both RAC and district officials praised the quality and execution of the project.
Deputy Resident District Commissioner Namara Roy Batuuze called on local leaders and technical teams to maintain a spirit of collaboration for sustained improvement.
“There is need for continuous teamwork between local leaders and technical staff if we are to sustain and improve service delivery,” Batuuze said.
RAC, a leading anti-corruption watchdog in the Rwenzori region, continues to engage local governments in promoting good governance, accountability, and citizen participation.
Its work also extends to addressing gender-based violence and ensuring that service delivery reflects the needs and rights of all citizens.
