The State Minister in the Office of the Vice President and the Woman MP for Buikwe District, Diana Mutasingwa has applauded President Museveni for his significant role in improving lives across Buikwe and the broader Greater Mukono region.
Her remarks came during a well-attended rally in Buikwe District over the weekend, where she hosted the President.
Thousands of supporters gathered to welcome Museveni and show support for the government's development agenda.
In her remarks, Mutasingwa acknowledged the President’s visit and credited him for advancing the region through meaningful reforms and investments.
“I thank you, President Museveni, for touring Greater Mukono and for the tangible efforts you’ve made to uplift our people,” Mutasingwa said.
She went on to point out several impactful initiatives that have positively affected the district, emphasizing the importance of President Museveni’s decision to sign the Sugarcane Bill into law.
According to her, this legislation has created new opportunities for local farmers.
“Our farmers are grateful. This law has brought hope and dignity to the hardworking growers in our region,” she noted.
Among other accomplishments she highlighted were government-funded projects such as Shs10 billion allocated for the construction of the Buikwe District Headquarters, Shs1.3 billion towards an irrigation scheme, and the planned development of the Lugazi–Kiyindi–Buikwe road — a crucial transport corridor for the area.
Despite these achievements, Mutasingwa didn’t shy away from addressing existing challenges.
She drew attention to the difficulties faced by the fishing communities and urged President Museveni to remain committed to safeguarding Lake Victoria for the benefit of local Ugandans.
The event also drew several notable figures, including Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua, NRM Vice Chairperson for the Buganda region Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi, Minister of State for Micro-Finance Haruna Kasolo, and State House Comptroller Ms. Jane Barekye, among others.
Recently, Mutasingwa secured her nomination as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate for the Woman Member of Parliament seat in Buikwe District.
As she seeks to retain her seat as the area MP, she has reiterated her dedication to public service and advancing development in the region.
"I’m grateful to the people of Buikwe for the trust and support you’ve shown me. Your confidence strengthens my resolve to lead with purpose. I also extend my appreciation to the NRM Electoral Commission, under the leadership of Dr. Tanga Odoi, for ensuring a smooth and successful nomination process," Mutasingwa stated last week.
