The Forum for Democratic Change(FDC) leadership in Western Uganda have asked their supporters not to lose hope that they have since re-organized the party and ready for the forthcoming general election.
Joab Businge, the deputy FDC president in charge of western Uganda said, currently there is no party organised like FDC , adding that they are they only party that can deliver Ugandans to the promised land.
He said they are in the process of finding who will carry the party flag in the 2026 presidential elections, with the race being between Engineer Patrick Oboi Amuriat and Nandala Mafabi.
"The two are all tested, whoever will be given the flag for president will be our presidential candidate, the party are now very organized", he stated.
Businge asked supporters in Western Uganda to trust the party and support it in the forthcoming general elections.
"The party has since organized itself, there are members who had left . but have come back. FDC is grounded, thus a party you can trust with your support to deliver this country to a transition which is coming in 2026. No president has led five decades. It's four decades so Museveni days are numbered," Businge assured
FDC is currently doing grassroot mobilization for support but also identifying candidates with their target of fielding a candidate for each elective political position with a desire to make Western Uganda blue.
"We had our supporters, now we are appealing to them to put in more energies and take part in the forthcoming elections, because we want to have a candidate on all political positions" he noted
Fred Banage the FDC party chairman for Masindi notes that, while in 2021 they delivered over ten leaders on various posts including a member of parliament for Masindi municipality, their target is to sweep all the members of parliament posts and local councils.
"What we need is trust, once we get it from the population, no doubt we shall have Masindi blue, this is supposed to be a protest vote," he added
The party is also asking their counterparts in the opposition for cooperation if they have to immediately get rid of NRM.
"As opposition our target is to get out NRM and we need to team up rather than fighting ourselves. Our interest has never been being opposition all the time, rather to get into power and change the bad system of NRM," Businge stated
Among candidates who have already shown interest to stand on the FDC ticket in Masindi district include Noti Carren Asiimwe for Masindi district woman member of parliament, Philip Kyamanywa for Bujenje county member of parliament, Fred Banage for Buruli county member of Parliament, Isaac Bongomin for Masindi municipality mayorship, Isah Umar for Masindi central division chairman among others.
"The people of Bujenje have not been represented well, No one advocates for the rights as sugarcane growers, fight land grabbers, work on poor health centres among others. I have the capacity to do it," Kyamanywa stated
Noti Carren Asiimwe who wants to represent Masindi as the district woman member of parliament says she is not bothered by the big names so far in the race like Kabakumba Matsiko , Jalia Bintu Lukumu and Dr Florence Asiimwe, the incumbent, urging them to give space for the young blood to take on the mantle.
"What new thing can they do really, let them give space to the young energetic youth," she stated
