Presidential Advisor Ambako Urges Leaders to Promote Government Achievements
During a visit to Hoima District, Lt Col (Rtd) Ambako Kibrai warned that low visibility of government programmes is fuelling public discontent despite key service delivery milestones.

Senior Presidential Advisor on Mobilisation, Lt Col (Rtd) Ambako Kibrai, has called on local leaders and technocrats to step up efforts in publicising government achievements and development programmes.

Speaking during a monitoring and evaluation engagement with Hoima District officials, Col. Ambako expressed concern over what he described as poor communication of government efforts, warning that failure to highlight progress was breeding unnecessary scepticism among the public.

“Government has delivered in key areas, but many citizens are not aware,” he said. “It is the duty of leaders at all levels to popularise these achievements so that Ugandans appreciate what is being done in their name.”

While commending Hoima for strides in sectors such as education, health, and the Parish Development Model, Ambako stressed that visible government success stories must be amplified to counter public misinformation and negative sentiment.

As part of his visit, Ambako toured various ongoing government projects, including the Shs 3.45 billion Kidukuru Seed Secondary School in Buhanika Sub-county. He cited the project as an example of how sound government policies are transforming access to education.

“We understand there are challenges—like teacher shortages—but the government will continue addressing these gaps, including wages and more infrastructure,” he said.

The acting Hoima District Education Officer, Harriet Kihumulo, appealed to the government to confirm teachers at the new school and expedite the extension of electricity. “The school is far from the community, and students study in darkness at night. We ask for electricity for both security and academic reasons,” she said.

Resident District Commissioner Rodgers Mbabazi reaffirmed the district’s commitment to executing national programmes. “Once government sets out programmes, our role is to ensure implementation reaches the intended beneficiaries. That mission remains unchanged,” he said.
