“Our nomination is not just a personal milestone, but a signal to the country that Ugandans are tired of a broken system. We’re here to rebuild and serve. We are standing to correct inequality and build a Uganda where services, jobs, and education are accessible to all—not the privileged few,” said Ebwalu.

Addressing the media shortly after their nomination, the candidates pledged to champion structural reforms targeting what they described as institutionalized inequality in government systems.

They decried the current NRM-led government’s approach to public service, citing disparities in employment, health access, and education quality across regions.

Soroti City West Aspirant:

“This government has institutionalized exclusion. We need leadership that looks at everyone as equal not based on tribe, region, or wealth.”

Joan Alobo, the incumbent Soroti City Woman MP, emphasized the FDC’s mission to unite the country and ensure balanced service delivery.

She cited the lack of proper healthcare infrastructure in rural communities as a major concern.

“Our mothers still give birth in risky conditions, our youth need better education, and we want to finish the unfinished business like pushing for complete compensation, completion of the blood bank, etc.,” said Alobo.

The aspirants also vowed to fight what they termed as selective recruitment in public jobs, accusing the ruling government of favoring a small clique of individuals, mostly from central government-linked networks.

“Public service jobs have become family businesses. We must depoliticize recruitment and make it merit-based,” said Ebwalu.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission teams for both Soroti District and Soroti City confirmed a smooth and successful nomination process, expressing satisfaction with the turnout and organization.

“We are pleased to confirm that a total of 1,112 FDC aspirants have been successfully nominated for various positions. This reflects the vibrancy of internal democracy in the party.”

With the political season gaining momentum, the FDC’s bold stand on equity, transparency, and system reform is likely to energize debates across the region.

The party now shifts focus to primary campaigns as it seeks to consolidate grassroots support and challenge the status quo in the 2026 general elections.
