The Second Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, has been officially nominated to contest in the upcoming National Resistance Movement (NRM) party primaries while seated inside his car.
Gen. Ali is vying for the East Moyo County seat in Adjumani District, while the Third Deputy Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama, was nominated for the Mayuge District Woman MP seat.
In a rare moment that drew attention at the nomination venue, NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi personally declared the nomination of the retired general without him stepping out of the vehicle.
“I, Dr. Tanga Odoi, on behalf of the commission, do hereby nominate Gen. Moses Ali for Adjumani West Constituency in Adjumani District. Congratulations,” he announced.
Electoral officials confirmed that the nomination process complied with all legal requirements, and Gen. Ali was duly registered as a candidate under the ruling party's ticket.
Both Deputy Prime Ministers are among several high-profile contenders seeking to retain their political influence as the NRM prepares for the 2026 general elections.
The nomination process is part of the party’s internal roadmap to select flag bearers ahead of the national polls expected early next year.
