UPDF Commander Warns Women Soldiers Against Indiscipline, Lavish Lifestyle
Busizoori emphasised that the pursuit of so-called “soft life” habits including expensive lifestyles and non-compliance with dress codes risks undermining the professionalism and operational integrity of the force.

Maj Gen Felix Busizoori, commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Fourth Infantry Division, has warned female combatants against indiscipline, urging them to shun extravagance and adhere strictly to military regulations.

Addressing soldiers at the Division headquarters in Gulu, Busizoori emphasised that the pursuit of so-called “soft life” habits including expensive lifestyles and non-compliance with dress codes risks undermining the professionalism and operational integrity of the force.

“There is a growing habit among some female soldiers of plaiting long hair that falls on their backs,” he said. “This violates the UPDF dress code, which has not changed.”

He also reminded troops of the UPDF’s policy prohibiting female soldiers from marrying or starting families within their first four years of service, warning that violators will face prosecution and possible dismissal.

The commander urged female personnel to maintain modesty, focus on legacy-building, and avoid behaviours that could lead to financial instability or tarnish the force’s image.

“Avoid anything that doesn’t add value to your salary or service. Responsible living will secure your future,” he added.
