The State Minister in charge of the Office of the Vice President Diana Mutasingwa has officially launched the National Mass Registration and Renewal Exercise for National Identity Cards in Buikwe District.
The exercise, spearheaded by the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA), aims to ensure that every citizen has access to national IDs and that no one is left behind.
"It is essential to keep your national details updated because it is a legal requirement, and also ensures smooth and efficient access to government services," the minister said.
The exercise will be systematically rolled out across communities to reach all citizens.
During the launch, the Minister also handed over maize milling machines to various farmer groups in the district.
This initiative is part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries' (MAAIF) Agricultural Value Chain Development Project.
The project aims to enhance production efficiency and uplift the household incomes of farmers.
"This intervention is expected to significantly enhance production efficiency, and also uplift the household incomes of these farmers," the Minister noted.
The Minister expressed gratitude to the Government of Uganda for these impactful initiatives aimed at transforming communities.
The launch of the national ID registration exercise and the handing over of maize milling machines demonstrate the government's commitment to improving the lives of citizens and promoting economic development in the region.
The initiatives are expected to have a positive impact on the livelihoods of residents in Buikwe District.
