In light of the above findings, and in accordance with the constitutional mandate of UMSC, I hereby terminate your services as District Kadhi of Bugweri Muslim District with immediate effect

The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has officially terminated Sheikh Huzaima Magumba from his role as District Kadhi of Bugweri Muslim District following findings that he submitted forged academic documents during his appointment process.

In a formal letter dated May 26, 2025 and signed by the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the decision to relieve Sheikh Magumba of his duties was made after a comprehensive investigation into complaints raised by concerned members of the Bugweri Muslim community.

The inquiry revealed that the Thanawi certificate—a critical academic qualification required for the position—submitted by Sheikh Magumba was fraudulent.

According to the UMSC Constitution, Article 19(3)(b), possession of authentic religious academic qualifications is mandatory for any candidate holding the office of District Kadhi. The discovery of falsified credentials constitutes a direct breach of this constitutional provision.
