Kasese Assistant RDC Arrested in Mubende over Interference in NRM Elections

Police in Mubende have arrested the Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kasese, Richard Nsenga, on charges of interfering in the ongoing National Resistance Movement (NRM) district elections.

Nsenga, who also serves as a District Councillor for Kibalinga Sub-county, was arrested following a complaint by Saudah Kitondekigya, a candidate for the Youth Female Councillor seat.

She alleges that Nsenga, who was not assigned to the area, attempted to influence the vote in favour of her rival.

“He came all the way from Kasese and began giving money to some of my supporters,” Kitondekigya told the Nile Post.

“I was informed that he diverted them from Mayor’s Gardens, where the voting was taking place, and took them to a hotel. I thank Mubende RDC Umar Lule Mawiya for acting swiftly and ordering his arrest.”

Nsenga is currently detained at Mubende Central Police Station as investigations continue.

Efforts to reach RDC Mawiya for comment were unsuccessful, as he remained occupied with the supervision of the election process.
