Following the incident, his body was transported to Kasese Municipal Council Health Centre III for a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.

The tragic loss of such a young life adds to the growing concern over the increasing number of suicides, particularly among youth aged between 20 and 28 years in the Rwenzori region.

While the reasons behind Mumbere's death remain unclear, the incident has reignited conversations around mental health, emotional well-being, and the urgent need for support systems within communities.

"Suicide cases have rapidly increased in the region over time, we hope our leaders can find solutions to this situation, otherwise the youths are dieing one after the other," another resident mentioned.

Community members and leaders are calling for greater awareness, stronger peer support, and the establishment of accessible counseling services for youth struggling with stress, depression, and other mental health challenges.

As the region mourns, many are left grappling with questions and reflecting on the hidden struggles that may go unnoticed in the lives of young people.

Derrick’s death serves as a painful reminder of the importance of looking out for one another and fostering an environment where individuals feel safe to speak up and seek help.

For those battling with emotional difficulties, speaking to a trusted friend, relative, religious leader, or trained counselor can make a vital difference. Life, with all its challenges, still holds hope, healing, and the possibility of change.
