The Rotary Club of Bweyogerere-Namboole ushered in new leadership during a colourful ceremony at the Centre of Excellence in Kira Municipality, installing Peace Flavia Lukabya as its 31st president.
She succeeds Rtn. Micheal Nuwagaba, whose one-year term was marked by impactful community service and youth-focused initiatives.
The event drew Rotarians, community members, and dignitaries, including Wakiso District Woman MP Betty Ethel Naluyima, who praised Rotary’s commitment to orderly leadership transitions and challenged Ugandan political leaders to follow suit.
“Many of our leaders struggle to relinquish power, leading to unnecessary conflict and stalled development,” said Naluyima.
“Rotary Clubs provide a powerful model of peaceful, democratic leadership change that should inspire those in public office.”
Outgoing president Nuwagaba reflected on his tenure with gratitude, citing vocational training for youth and community development as key achievements.
He credited the club’s success to collective effort and expressed full confidence in Lukabya’s ability to lead.
“I am thankful for the unwavering support from my fellow Rotarians,” he said.
“I now pass on the baton with pride and optimism.”
In her acceptance remarks, Lukabya expressed humility and readiness to carry the club’s mission forward.
She pledged to build on past achievements while exploring new avenues for service.
“I am honoured to serve such a dedicated team that puts service above self,” she said.
“Together, we will deepen our impact in the communities we serve.”
She called for unity and active engagement among club members, underlining her commitment to executing ongoing projects and fostering fresh partnerships.
The ceremony closed with the symbolic handover of the presidential collar—a moment that underscored Rotary’s culture of integrity, continuity, and shared responsibility.
As the Rotary Club of Bweyogerere-Namboole begins a new chapter under Lukabya’s leadership, the message resounded clearly: true leadership is not about clinging to power, but about passing it on with purpose, grace, and the will to serve.
