Opposition MPs summoned for Emergency meeting ahead of UPDF Bill The opposition in Parliament has been summoned for an emergency meeting on Monday, ahead of the second reading of the contentious UPDF Amendment Bill 2025.

The meeting comes as the opposition grapples with internal debates on how to approach the bill, which proposes to legalize the trial of civilians in the General Court Martial.

According to the Leader of the Opposition, Joel Ssenyonyi, there are divergent voices within the opposition camp.

"There are voices telling us not to be part of the Tuesday sitting, and other voices telling us to participate and fight the bill on the floor," Ssenyonyi said.
