The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission for the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Tanga Odoi, has shed light on the ongoing preparations for the election of party structures at various levels, including the parish and village levels.
Speaking to the media, Odoi emphasised the importance of these grassroots elections in strengthening the party’s foundation and ensuring effective mobilisation ahead of the 2026 general elections.
He noted that the NRM secretariat is finalising guidelines to ensure a transparent and inclusive process that reflects the party’s democratic values. According to Odoi, the electoral roadmap will soon be released, outlining timelines, eligibility, and procedures for participation.
The elections at village, parish, and other local levels are seen as crucial in identifying active and committed party members who will represent the NRM at higher levels of governance.
Odoi also called upon all NRM members to participate actively in the process and maintain discipline, noting that the party will not tolerate acts of violence, bribery, or intimidation during the elections.
