The Uganda National Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has officially launched the Uganda National Household Survey 2023/2024 report, offering critical insights into the country's socio-economic conditions.
The findings, derived from data collected in 2024, were delayed due to the recent national census exercise.
Speaking at the launch, UBOS Executive Director Chris Mukiza said the report represents the 8th national household survey since the inaugural edition in 1999/2000.
Conducted every three years, the last such report was released for the 2019/2020 cycle.
This year’s edition covers three core modules, including a comprehensive socio-economic survey.
“This data is vital for informing public debate and shaping our path toward achieving the goals set in the National Development Plan,” said Mukiza.
He added that UBOS is currently undertaking additional surveys alongside the census, including an aquaculture survey and, starting in June, a nationwide school survey.
The upcoming education-focused survey will analyse school attendance, teacher numbers, and other key indicators within Uganda’s education sector.
Mukiza also noted that while the first census in Uganda dates back to the 1960s, the ongoing census marks a regional milestone as the first of its kind in East Africa.
