UEDCL is carrying out system maintenance and upgrade
The power distributor is upgrading network and systems left behind by Umeme at the end of their concession in March

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) continues its national infrastructure maintenance and upgrade activities across multiple regions.

Below is the updated schedule of technical works including transformer servicing, pole replacement, line clearance, and other critical improvements. Please note potential service interruptions or load management requirements in specified areas.

  • Region: Soroti
  • Works: 33kV OHL equipment maintenance and pole replacement
  • Feeder: Soroti-Aloet
  • Affected Areas: Aloet, Asuret, Aukot, Dakabela
  • Thursday 15th May 2025
  • Region: Gulu
  • Works: Vegetation clearance and insulator washing
  • Substations: Gulu Main and UETCL
  • Affected Areas: Gulu City, Pece, Layibi, Bardege, Unyama

Monday, May 19

  • Region: Entebbe
  • Works: Pole replacement and conductor tensioning
  • Feeder: Entebbe-Kajjansi 33kV
  • Affected Areas: Kajjansi Town Council, Akright Estate, Kitende, Lutembe

Tuesday, May 20

  • Region: Fort Portal
  • Works: Transformer oil filtration and switchgear inspection
  • Substations: Fort Portal Central
  • Impact: No outage expected

Wednesday, May 21

  • Region: Arua
  • Works: Vegetation clearance and pole replacement
  • Feeder: Arua-Koboko 33kV
  • Affected Areas: Rhino Camp, Bileafe, Ocea

  • Hoima-Busunju 33kV: Replacement of burnt poles at Kafu — No outage
  • Lira (Kilak-Abim): Line clearance — Affected: Abim Town, Kiru, Orwamuge, Morulem
  • Lira (Apac-Olelpek): Pole replacement — Affected: Apac, Kaberamaido & Amolatar
  • Mbarara North: Replacing semaphore switches and CB trip activation — No UEDCL outage
  • Nkenda: Tx1 & 2, Rx1 & Capacitor Bank — Repair, maintenance, hotspot clearing
  • Tx1 & Tx2 — Meter retrofitting — Load management required

Friday, May 23

  • Waligo-Kyanja Feeder: Installing sectionalising points — Affected: Nalya, Kyanja, Kungu, Komamboga, Kisasi, Buwate, Jomai Estate
  • Lira (Kitgum-Lotukei 33kV): Veg. clearance, pole replumbing/replacement — Affected: Aloi, Kodi, Corner Gar, Acokara, Abok; Lotukei, Baralege State Lodge, Apala Tc, Abia, Olilim, Ogwete
  • Lira (Kitgum-Madi Opei 33kV): Line clearance — Affected: Mucwini, Banabana Barracks, Madi Okolo, Madi Opei
  • Lira (Kitgum-Rackoko-Lalogi): Replacement of rotten pole — Affected: All customers on Aromo T-Off
  • Mbale (Tororo 1 33kV): Veg. clearance and pole replacement — Affected: Manafwa Water Pump, Busiu Tc, Lwakhakha, Bubulo SS, Busoba Tc

  • Lumpewe (11kV/33kV Busbar): Tapchanger service and auxiliary maintenance — Affected: Kiwoko, Matabi, Magoma, Butimwa, etc.
  • Lira (Kilak-Abim T-Off): MV pole replacement — Affected: Kalongo, Paimol, Wol T-Off
  • Nkonge-Rugonjo 132kV Line: Re-stringing conductors — Load management required

  • Tx2 routine switchgear maintenance — Load shedding required

  • Kitante RMUs (11kV): Routine maintenance — Affected: Garden City, ERA, Yusuf Lule Rd, Dewnton Rd, etc.

  • Namanve North Tx3 and Capacitor Bank: Oil treatment and repairs — Load management required in Nalya, Mukono
  • Wednesday 28th May 2025
  • Kole (Kamdin 33kV from Aboke): Replacement of H section at St. Thomas — Affected: Kamdin, Kisanja, Parkgate, Labongo, Bokwe, etc.
  • Serena 11kV Switchgear: Routine maintenance — Affected: Sheraton & Serena
  • Nkonge-Mubende Mile 16 T-Off: Rotten MV pole replacement — Affected: Kyakatebe, Kisaan, Kagungube, Mululu, etc.

Thursday, May 29

  • Lira (Kwania-Dokolo): Pole replacement — Affected: Dokollo, Anyara, Amuria
  • Lugogo: Tx1, Tx5, Rxt 1&2 maintenance and oil leak repair — Load management required in Kitintale, Ntinda, Kabalagala
  • Mutundwe-Budo 11kV: Jumper repairs, vegetation clearance, pole replacement — Affected: Kabojja, Budo, Kyengera, Nabbingo, etc.
  • Industrial Park Switching Station: Pole replacement and veg. clearance — Affected: Mbale, Bukwo, Siiti Dam
  • Busunju-Mityana 33kV: Pole replacement, clearance, T-off protection — Affected: Kabega Maize Mill, Nakaseeta, Sekanyonyi, Kitanswa, etc.
  • Lira (Kilak-Abim T-Off):
  • Pole replacement — Affected: Morulem, Adea, Rackoko
  • Replacement of structures at Konkic — Affected: Pader Town

Friday, May 30

  • Kabulasoke-Nkonge Solar 132kV: OHL reconductoring — No customers affected
  • Note: Some regions may require temporary load management or brief outages to allow for safe execution of technical works. Customers are advised to plan accordingly and follow updates from UEDCL service channels.
