Modan Lomilo, the Moroto village chairman who received a motorbike from President Museveni last year, has cruised to a landslide victory literally unopposed.

In a surprising twist during LC1 elections today at Naitakwai Football Pitch, Lomilo scooped all 267 valid votes, while his two challengers failed to secure even one.

The election, which drew a large crowd of enthusiastic villagers, was briefly marred by chaos as voters protested alleged omissions from voting due to late coming.

Tempers flared until Moroto District Police Commander Ayikoyo Sydney intervened, restoring calm and ordering a full verification exercise.

Speaking to this publication after the landslide win, Lomilo thanked God and vowed to “continue walking with his people, only now faster.”

Lomilo’s re-election follows a widely publicized appeal he made to President Museveni during the latter’s regional tour to assess the Parish Development Model.

“Last time my village gave you 90 percent votes,” Lomilo had said, “if you buy me a bike, I’ll deliver 99 percent!” The president responded on the spot, instructing State House officials to hand Lomilo six million shillings to purchase the motorbike.

With the bike now in tow and a fresh mandate secured, Lomilo’s political journey continues unchallenged.
