Organisers have announced the dates for this year’s Afri art and fashion show .
According to Trillion Looks store, the organisers of the annual event, this year’s show will be held between August 15 and 23 at Motiv in Bugoloobi.
Cerinah Nalwoga Kasirye, the founder of Trillion Looks Store said this year’s Afri Art fashion show will also include the inter-university art and fashions challenge,
“This pre-event is a design competition that encourages students to create innovative and sustainable fashion and art pieces inspired by culture, heritage, creativity and innovation. Fashion schools produce most of the fashion and art designers in the market, yet they rarely have a chance to collaborate and gain exposure within the industry. The inter University fashion challenge is an opportunity for students to showcase their creativity and gain exposure into an industry that will eventually accommodate them after school,” she said.
She noted that this year’s edition will also have art awards which will celebrate the artisan designers.
“ The Afri Art Fashion Awards seek to celebrate and recognise the creativity of young Africans in the creative sector in Uganda.”
She added that this year’s show will also celebrate 12o fashion art designers in Uganda.
“We want them to know that they add life to the world by sharing their collections with us. These designers will be profiled online and a number of them will compete in the Afri art fashion Awards. Internet users can visit the Afri art fashion show website to view the artisan profiles and stories,” Celinah Nalwoga Kasirye said.
The week-long event will will be hosted under a theme “My heritage, my hustle.”
