Kasese District LCV Chairperson, Erifazi Muhindi, stressed that ensuring community safety is a collective responsibility and called upon locals to play an active role in identifying suspicious individuals who may pose a threat to peace.

"Security matters involve joint efforts," Muhindi said. "Let us work together by identifying wrong elements that would destabilize the peace people are enjoying now."

He also used the opportunity to encourage families to avoid actions that could spark domestic conflicts during the celebrations.

"I advise couples to shun acts that may lead to domestic violence. Let Easter be a time for love and unity," Muhindi added.

In response to public concerns about potential security breaches at the Mpondwe border, the State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Godfrey Kabbyanga, assured residents that the UPDF, working in collaboration with the Congolese army (FARDC), are firmly in control of the situation.

"The UPDF, together with FARDC, are manning the borders to prevent wrongdoers who may be planning to destabilize the country,"  Kabbyanga affirmed.

Meanwhile, Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament, Ferigo Kambale urged revelers, especially those who cross River Nyamwamba to exercise high level vigilance while crossing the river especially now that the rains have intensified.

"Enjoy responsibly and be cautious, especially when moving around areas like River Nyamwamba, some people tend to drink excessively yet they are meant to cross rivers as they move back home. Its a dangerous move now that rivers can flood anytime," Ferigo advised.

As the Easter holiday approaches, local leaders continue to emphasize peace, security, and responsible celebration as key to maintaining community stability amidst regional tensions.
