Easter came early for a group of vulnerable children in Kira Municipality, thanks to a heartfelt gesture by PENO Events, a local company known for its event planning and equipment rental services.
The firm, led by its Director Joseph Arinaitwe, donated food and other essentials to children under the care of Florence Nakimbugwe, a longtime caregiver to orphans and disadvantaged youth in the area.
The donation included rice, cooking oil, sugar, and other groceries, all intended to ensure the children could celebrate Easter with joy and dignity.
For Nakimbugwe, who has spent years supporting children with little more than her determination and faith, the surprise support was a welcome relief.
"I thank PENO Events and Mr. Arinaitwe for their good heart. These items will help us celebrate Easter like any other family. I pray that the Almighty rewards them abundantly," she said, visibly emotional during the handover.
Nakimbugwe, who has cared for over 200 children throughout her life, says that while some have grown into productive adults, many of those currently under her roof still lack school fees and basic needs.
Her appeal extended beyond Easter: she urged fellow Ugandans and organisations to stand with her in helping the young lives she continues to shelter.
"I started this journey of taking care of vulnerable children at a young age. Despite lacking a permanent job, I have always tried my best. Sometimes good Samaritans and organisations come in to help, but it’s difficult for them to sponsor all the children," she explained.

For PENO Events, this gesture is part of a broader commitment to community engagement.
Arinaitwe revealed that the idea to help Nakimbugwe’s children came after a well-wisher alerted him to their needs. He reaffirmed the company’s intention to keep supporting vulnerable groups during festive seasons.
"We decided to donate these items to Nakimbugwe after a well-wisher approached me, highlighting the challenges faced by these vulnerable children. We shall continue supporting them and others in need every year as part of our community outreach," Arinaitwe said.
He went on to encourage responsible parenting, calling on Ugandans to only have as many children as they can support, warning against the growing problem of child abandonment that leaves the burden on caretakers like Nakimbugwe.
The Easter outreach not only brought smiles to the children’s faces but also underscored the critical role businesses can play in addressing social challenges.
In a season that celebrates compassion and renewal, PENO Events' donation has left a lasting imprint on a small household in Kira, reminding the community of the strength in giving.
