Heavy security deployment ahead of Bobi Wine return

Security has deployed heavily around the city and its surroundings as Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine returns from the US.

On Wednesday, police banned any processions and rallies ahead of the legislator's return but Kyagulanyi vowed to defy the orders.

However, since Wednesday night, the police and the military have deployed heavily in major towns along Entebbe road.

A number of road blocks at Zzana,Kajjansi,Kisubi and other points have mounted where vehicles heading towards the airport are thoroughly checked. From Kitooro, there are three check points to the airport, away from the usual ones.

At check points manned by both uniform and plain clothed security operatives, journalists are not allowed to access the airport. In the city centre,Kamwokya and Magere, the military is carrying out foot patrols.

On Wednesday, police warned they will not allow anyone, apart from Kyagulanyi's family members at the airport.

“On his arrival, Hon.Kyagulanyi will be received at Entebbe International Airport by his immediate family only and will be availed security from the airport to his home,"police spokesperson Emillian Kayima told journalists.

However,Bobi Wine vowed to defy the police orders.

"Why do these police officers allow themselves to descend so low? They now want to decide who picks me and where I go upon arrival?,” Bobi posted on his social media accounts.

He added; “Well, for your information, no single family member will receive me at the airport, I will find them home because I know where home is. I will be received by friends, colleague leaders and artistes. I will then go and see my sickly grandmother briefly at Najjanankumbi from where I will head to Kamwokya for lunch with my family (brothers and sisters) before I go to my home in Magere. I am a free Ugandan with the right to movement freely in my country."

Meanwhile police has cordoned off the home of Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago in a bid to prevent him from moving.
