Uganda beats Sri-Lanka in University Netball Championship

Uganda sticks to winning as they edge Sri-Lanka in the on going World University Netball Championship at Makerere University.

Uganda has continued to exhibit high class netball after winning its fourth game in the on going World University Championship at Makerere University.

Though goal shooter Mary Nuba started on bench, team uganda opened the game with bang.  Nuba’s entry later was a boost to the team.

The girls overwhelmingly beat Sri-Lanka 133-24 goals this Quarter 1 Uganda 35-3 Sri-Lanka Quarter 2 Uganda 33-8 Sri-Lanka Quarter 3 Uganda 32-6 singapore Quarter 4 Uganda.

The team captain Irene Eyaru says they are winning because of their hardwork.

"We are winning because we are determined and eyeing the trophy, we are hosts, thats the advantage and we donot want to ashame the country," Eyaru said.

Sri-Lanka captain team captain Tushani Ranawaka hailed her team for it’s never say die attitude. Ranawaka said the team had picked the positives and hopes to improve on their weakest points and win the next game.

"We lost to a better team but we dont loose hope, we shall correct our mistakes, and win the remaining games," says Sri-Lankas Tushani Ranawaka.

South Africa who are eyeing their second straight title were in equally impressive as they defeated the daring Singapore 92-11 goals. Uganda and South Africa remain the two unbeaten teams in the championship.
