The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, has expressed his gratitude to retired Major General Kahinda Otafiire for spearheading the Elevate Her Uganda initiative.
The community-driven project aims to combat poverty among women and empower them to reach their full potential.
Tayebwa emphasized the importance of financial empowerment for women, stating, "The financial empowerment of women is a key driver of economic growth, not only for families but also for communities at large." He believes that initiatives like Elevate Her Uganda are crucial in achieving this goal.
The Deputy Speaker noted that the initiative closely aligns with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government's broader objective of eradicating poverty across the country.
He praised Otafiire for personally spearheading the project, saying, "While government efforts play a vital role, I am particularly grateful to Otafiire for personally spearheading this transformative project."
Tayebwa's presence at the launch of Elevate Her Uganda in Mitooma District demonstrates his commitment to empowering women and promoting economic growth.
As the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, he has been vocal about issues affecting the country, including the need for effective governance and public service delivery.
