A group of National Resistance Movement (NRM) youth supporters took to the streets of Kampala, protesting alleged irregularities in the Kawempe North election results.
Led by Ibrahim Buyinza, the demonstrators claimed that some ballots were not counted, affecting their candidate, Faridah Nambi. Carrying placards and chanting slogans, they marched through various parts of the city, demanding that the Electoral Commission conduct a vote recount.
“The results were not fair. Some votes were left out, and we want the Electoral Commission to recount so that our candidate gets what she deserves,” one protester stated.
The group accused election officials of bias, arguing that Nambi was unfairly treated in the electoral process.
The protest caused tension in parts of Kampala, but authorities have yet to comment on the situation. The Electoral Commission has not issued an official response to the demands for a recount.
