Muslims across Uganda have been urged to avoid immoral behaviors and engage in peaceful and positive actions during this critical period.
The event was about a futari dinner held at buganda Road Kampala, attended by a gathering of Muslims and local residents.
The event, hosted by Hajjat Hadija Namyalo, also highlighted the importance of prayer for the nation and avoiding negative actions during times of governance discussions.
The event, which took place along Buganda Road near the Central Police Station (CPS), saw key figures, including Shekh Erias Kigozi, the District Kazi (Muslim leader) for Wakiso, criticize political leaders, especially those opposing President Museveni.
Shekh Kigozi expressed his dissatisfaction with the failure of these political leaders to provide strong leadership during their time in office, emphasizing the necessity of supporting the president's leadership.
In addition to Shekh Kigozi's remarks, Shekh Abdallah Lukumbi, a senior Islamic leader, urged President Museveni to engage more with Islamic leadership, particularly acknowledging the vital role played by the Mufti in guiding the Muslim community.
This call for increased engagement with Islamic leadership highlights the growing importance of Muslims in Uganda's political landscape.
Hajjat Namyalo, who addressed the gathering, thanked the Muslims for their active participation and reaffirmed the significance of good governance.
She called on Muslims, particularly those who have not previously been involved in political activities, to become more engaged in governance and contribute to the country’s development.
Looking ahead, Hajjat Namyalo revealed plans for future activities, including organizing trips and events aimed at fostering growth and unity among the Muslim community.
She also underscored efforts to bring together people from various political affiliations, including groups such as PLU (People’s Leadership Union) and Yellow Power.
The event also saw the attendance of several political and community leaders, including former St. Balikuddembe Market Chairperson Suzan Kushaba.
Mr Abdallah Kitimbo, a police spokesperson, praised the respectful behavior of the Muslims present and encouraged them to maintain good conduct during public events.
As Uganda continues to grapple with political challenges, the call for peace, unity, and moral conduct remains critical, with religious leaders urging the public to focus on collective progress and cooperation.
