Police in Kamuli District are searching for 40-year-old Alex Bukusuba, who is accused of hacking his 24-year-old wife, Masitula Mukoda, to death in a case of domestic violence.

The incident occurred in Bakusekamajja Zone, Naluwoli Parish, Butansi Subcounty. Busoga North Police Spokesperson, ASP Michael Kasadha, said Mukoda had recently left her marital home due to persistent domestic abuse.

Her sister had advised her to separate from Bukusuba for her safety.

However, on March 13, 2025, at around 10:00 AM, she returned to collect some of her belongings.

At approximately 1:00 PM, Bukusuba reportedly called his mother-in-law, warning that he was about to do something terrible. Despite her desperate pleas, he refused to listen.

“By 8:00 PM, reports emerged that a woman had been killed, prompting a swift police response. A team led by the District Police Commander (DPC) visited the crime scene before transporting Mukoda’s body to Kamuli General Hospital for a postmortem examination,” Kasadha said.

Police have condemned the act, urging couples to seek professional guidance or legal intervention in cases of domestic conflict instead of resorting to violence.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities continue searching for Bukusuba.

The public has been urged to report cases of domestic violence early to prevent such tragedies. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is encouraged to report to the nearest police station.
