Boda Boda Rider Killed, Motorcycle Stolen in Kaliro

Police in Kaliro District are investigating the brutal murder of a 24-year-old boda boda rider, whose motorcycle was stolen by unknown assailants.
The deceased, identified as Titus Bwoye Kunya, was a resident of Nansohera Village, Gadumire Sub-County.
The attack occurred at Takira II Village, Kasuleeta Parish, Bumanya Sub-County, on the evening of March 13, 2025.
Busoga North Police Spokesperson, ASP Michael Kasadha, said preliminary investigations indicate that Kunya had visited his father earlier in the evening.
On his way home at around 9:00 PM, he was ambushed in a swampy area by unidentified assailants.
“They used a piece of log to hit the deceased on the head, killing him instantly. His body was then dragged into a nearby bush before the attackers fled with his motorcycle, a Bajaj Boxer, registration number UFB 625D,” Kasadha said.
A team of detectives was dispatched to the scene after reports of the incident. The body was later taken to Bumanya Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.
Police have noted a rise in motorcycle thefts in Kamuli and Kaliro, where criminals ambush and kill riders before fleeing with their motorcycles.
Last year, security agencies busted a racket smuggling stolen motorcycles through Saaka Bridge in Kaliro to Pallisa and other districts in the Teso sub-region.
Authorities have urged boda boda riders to be extra cautious, especially at night, and to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the police.
Investigations into Kunya’s murder are ongoing as police intensify efforts to track down the killers and recover the stolen motorcycle.
Anyone with information is encouraged to report to the nearest police station.
