Democratic Party (DP) parliamentary candidate for Kawempe North, Henry Kasacca, has announced the establishment of an independent tally center to monitor the constituency’s voting process.

Kasacca, who cast his vote at Katalemwa Nursery School polling station in Komamboga, said the move is aimed at ensuring transparency.

His team will collect declaration forms from polling agents and compare them with results recorded from biometric machines.

“We are going to monitor what comes from our agents and compare it with the results generated from the biometric system,” he said.

He also condemned alleged voter intimidation and violence by security personnel, claiming such actions were meant to interfere with the integrity of the electoral process.

At Katalemwa Nursery School polling station, which has 900 registered voters, turnout was low, with only a handful of voters arriving at intervals of about ten minutes.

Voting commenced at 7:00 AM and is expected to close at 4:00 PM, after which tallying will take place at respective polling stations.

Kasacca’s decision to set up a parallel monitoring mechanism underscores ongoing concerns about electoral credibility in Kawempe North. As polling progresses, attention remains on the transparency of the tallying process and how security forces handle the exercise.
