Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has declared her income, assets, and liabilities to the Inspectorate of Government, fulfilling her obligation under the Leadership Code Act, 2002.

She urged fellow leaders to comply with the law, emphasizing that transparency and accountability are key to building public trust.

“Declaring income, assets, and liabilities is crucial in tracking changes in wealth by comparing income, savings, and expenditure over time,” Among noted.

Inspector General of Government (IGG) Betty Kamya and her deputies also declared their wealth before the Speaker, as required by law.

Among reminded leaders that the Online Declaration System will close at midnight on March 31, 2025, warning that failure to comply carries serious consequences, including removal from office. So far, 37% of leaders have submitted their declarations.

Section 4(1)(b) of the Leadership Code Act mandates leaders to declare their income, assets, and liabilities to the IGG every two years in March, with penalties prescribed for non-compliance.
