Col Chris Magezi appointed acting UPDF spokesperson

The Chief of Staff in the UPDF, Major General Jack Bakasumba has appointed Colonel Chris Magezi as the acting Defence Public Information officer on an acting basis.
Col Magezi is one of the military assistants to the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

In a statement on Thursday afternoon, the UPDF to run the office of the Defence Public Information (DDPIO) on an interim basis.
The substantive DDPIO, Major General Felix Kulayigye is on leave and is expected to be back in office after one month,” the statement said in brief.
Col Magezi, known to be close to Gen Kainerugaba previously served as Special Forces Command spokesperson until 2017.
He would later be appointed as the head communication for Gen Kainerugaba , officially serving then as his military assistant in charge of public relations.
Magezi who was elevated to the rank of Colonel in August last year after completing his military course in the US has of late been communicating issues pertaining CDF Gen Muhoozi’s positions and UPDF operations on several matters in the country and abroad on his social media accounts.
